"In order to talk to other women about what I was going through I felt the need to be more clear within myself. I had taken some photography classes and began making self-portraits to explore my inner most feelings about my body and myself. The photographs allowed me to see beauty still evident in the midst of scars of the body as well as the mind.
I began photographing other women who had breast cancer. Together was have explored how we feel about our identities, our bodies, our sexuality and our sense of self. Each woman has had a different response and each woman deals with her cancer in her own way.
...I am in awe of the women I have photographed and only hope that my images portray even a fraction of the immense beauty and courage I've been so fortunate to witness."
