Karyn Mannix

"Having been diagnosed with breast cancer has only made my scope of experiences larger. Now I have even more of an understanding of the ‘taboos’ attached to me and other women afflicted with the disease which I am fortunate enough to be able to translate and portray through my art.

Image and gender has always been my focus. I do not label myself as a feminist artist, I see myself as honest. I like to express myself freely, with no bar holds, through my art.

I am one of the fortunate ones, early detection, and only have few physical scars to show from my battle. The inner scars run a lot deeper and I am proud of both."
