Sandra Blair

"Because breast cancer is such a sneaky disease, we survivors live daily with the fear of it returning when we least expect it…as mine did in 2004.  Painting takes me away from all of that and connects me to something much larger than myself.  While I am painting and “in the zone,” every other thing in the world disappears.  My drawing table becomes the universe and the painting is my reality at that moment.  Through my art, I am transported back to the exact moment that I saw the creature I am painting.  I can smell the earth, hear the water flowing and feel the sun on my face.  Nothing else exists beyond that place, in that moment.

...My art helped me heal, both physically and emotionally and continues to do so every single day."
